What skills have I learned about processing, editing, presenting and evaluating information?
During my studies at Worcester State University, I was able to pick up many skills when it came to presenting and evaluating media. Writing various research papers has helped me hone my skills to research and present media in an unbiased manner. In addition, my technical writing course was able to teach me how to organize and present information in such a way that makes it easier for outside audiences to understand and utilize properly.
How can I become a responsible/ethical media producer?
Being a responsible and ethical media producer is extremely important, especially in today’s social climate. In order to be a proper producer, I will be honest and fully aware about what I post and take feedback into consideration. Listening to an audience’s responses is crucial when it comes to producing content. Furthermore, ensuring content is reliable and trustworthy will go a long way with audiences. Should any problems arise, I will admit my mistakes and come up with a plan to ensure that they won’t happen again. Openly admitting and addressing mistakes or inaccuracies will ensure most audience members will understand. It might also provide a greater connection, reminding the audience that the message is produced by a human and that mistakes are bound to happen to anyone. Having a powerful voice among a community is a privilege and should be treated as so.

How prepared am I to be responsible/informed consumer and skilled producer of
communication processes and mass media messages in the 21st century?
Before studying communication, it’s quite difficult to understand the full meaning behind messages broadcasted by mass media. After taking several classes on the subject, I am ready to be an informed and skilled producer. Classes such as Media Writing and Social Media have not only informed me on how media function, but also how to curate and create content as well. These courses puts mass media in a different perspective since most people tend to be consumers rather than creators. This new perspective forces outsides to look at media and answer simple questions with deeper answers. Who owns the media? What is the point of the message? What is the intent of the message and the person creating it? These sorts of questions can easily build a person’s understanding of the media, as they helped build my understanding.
How prepared am I to effectively gauge the effects of communication and mass media?
My classes have prepared me well for gauging the effects of communication and mass media. Everybody plays a role in communication, whether they’re producers or consumers. Information is a valuable asset that both of these roles seek, as information not only forms our opinions, but also our culture. Information is the backbone of motivation, as most people don’t take action without a cause. Courses such as Media Literacy and Graphic Design allow me to see the sign mass media try to send, which further allows me to analyze and gauge their effects.
